The challenge
Cities are centres for new ideas, culture, social development and in many cases have enabled people to improve their social and economic situation. It is estimated that by 2030, 60% of the world population will live in urban areas, occupying just 3% of the land surface but generating between 60 and 80% of energy consumption and 75% of CO2 emissions. Urbanisation is a challenge also due to the pressure that it places on water supplies, sewerage and the environment. The goal is to let cities grow, improving the use of resources and reducing pollution and disparity, in order to build inclusive urban centres, focused on the environment and which guarantee everyone access to basic services and energy.
What we are doing
We are working to develop smart and resilient cities which can use resources responsibly and be powered by green energy. We accompany customers and public administrations in the energy redevelopment of buildings, leading them to adopt high-efficiency solutions. Our district heating network is constantly expanding.
